Audi shares details about aerodynamic performance of e-tron quattro SUV
German automaker Audi has recently shared some information about the aerodynamic performance of its forthcoming e-tron quattro all-electric SUV.
Audi had first revealed the e-tron quattro all-electric SUV in year 2015. The electric SUV is expected to hit the production line later in 2018.
The sharing of details by Audi about the aerodynamic performance of its upcoming e-tron quattro SUV comes a few weeks after the automaker’s confirmation in April 2018 that the electric car will have a ‘realistic’ range of ~250 miles.
About the aerodynamic performance of e-tron quattro all-electric SUV, Audi said in a recent announcement that the result of putting the latest quattro prototype in the Wind Tunnel Center in Ingolstadt was “a drag coefficient of 0.28.”
The latest results imply that the e-tron quattro all-electric SUV is apparently less aerodynamic than what Audi had announced for the 2015-unveiled concept version, which it said would have a drag coefficient of 0.25. However, Audi claims that it has significantly advanced the vehicle’s aerodynamics, due to which “around 35 kilometers (21.7 mi)” have been added to its range.
Furthermore, highlighting the fact that “the drag coefficient for the Audi e-tron prototype is almost 0.07 less than for a comparable, conventionally powered vehicle,” Audi said that its engineers managed to achieve the drag coefficient of 0.28 by developing “a wide range of aerodynamics measures in all body areas.”
