Bollinger partners with Optimal to begin production of B1 all-electric utility truck in 2019
In a recent announcement, New York-based startup Bollinger Motors revealed that it has efforts underway to bring its B1 all-electric utility truck to production. The startup announced that it has partnered with engineering firm Optimal, Inc. of Plymouth, MI, to make its B1 all-electric utility truck a production-ready vehicle in 2019.
With the B1 currently being just a cool electric prototype vehicle, the announcement of the Bollinger-Optimal partnership implies that the all-electric utility truck vehicle will be put on the path to production next year.
According to the announcement made by Robert Bollinger, the founder of Bollinger Motors, the production of the B1 all-electric utility truck is scheduled to begin in late 2019. To achieve that production target for B1, Bollinger and Optimal are currently planning to finalize the work on the vehicle by the end of this year.
Describing Optimal as the “best partner” for Bollinger to “bring the Bollinger B1 all-electric, all-wheel-drive Sport Utility Truck to production,” Robert Bollinger said that the Bollinger-Optimal partnership will make the B1 “more efficient, more powerful, more capable and production-ready.”
Going by Bollinger’s updated specifications, the B1 will be a 5,000-pound truck with an all-aluminum chassis and body, and a payload capacity of 5,000 pounds. The truck’s dual-motor electric powertrain, coupled with a 120-kWh battery pack, will enable it to provide a minimum range of 200 miles.
