EV sales in Norway achieved new record in September 2018
According to the latest official registration data released in Norway, the sales of electric vehicles (EVs) in the country touched a new record high in September 2018.
Going by the data from Norway, the total number of new passenger car registrations in the country stood at 10,620 in September, with all-electric vehicles accounting for nearly 45% of these registrations. The EV registrations for the month further increased to 60% when plug-in hybrids are included.
The new EV sales record achieved by Norway is noteworthy but not unsurprising, because the country has already emerged as a leader of the ‘electrification’ movement, and has been setting impressive new records in terms of EV adoption.
The latest figures indicate that Norway is not only touching new heights in electric domination, but is also reaching new levels for low emission average because of increasing number of EVs on the road. In September 2018, the country achieved a new record low of ‘55g per km’ of average CO2 emissions, thereby marking a notable reduction of 16g per km as compared to September 2017.
About the record low CO2 emissions of 55g/km in Norway in September 2018, Oyvind Solberg Thorsen -- Director of the Road Traffic Advisory Board -- said: “Although we in Norway are accustomed to average CO2 emissions falling from month to month, this is the lowest level we have ever measured.”
