Kreisel Electric’s ‘Chimer’ fast-charging station includes buffer battery and delivers 160 kW

In a noteworthy move which marks Austria-based Kreisel Electric’s foray into the fast-charging arena, the company has revealed in a recent press released that it has launched its first fast-charging station called ‘Chimero.’

The Chimero fast-charging station for electric vehicles (EVs) includes a buffer battery, and has the ability to deliver 160 kW without bringing down the grid.

The fast-charging station underscores a remarkable effort Kreisel Electric -- founded by three brothers Johann, Markus and Philipp Kreisel, in 2014 -- to push its product boundaries. With the company originally driven by the idea of e-mobility, its core business is high performance batteries. However, it is also known for super fast electric vehicle (EV) conversions of various kinds.

With regard to Kreisel Electric’s plans to venture into the fast-charging space, the company’s plans were first reported in 2016. The reports had revealed that Kreisel was aiming to deliver 200 kW in 2017.

Now, in actually announcing the launch of its Chimero fast-charging station, Kreisel has revealed in its press release that Chimero can deliver up to 160 kW via CCS connection or optionally CHAdeMO and up to 22 kW via type 2.

Furthermore, according to Kreisel, the charging station’s integrated stationary battery offers 75 kWh of energy, and comes with the capability of being refilled with “up to 55 kW and/or from renewable AC energy sources such as wind power or photovoltaic plants.”
