Latest data: Tesla battery packs degrade less than 10% after over 160,000 miles
According to the latest data collected by a group of Tesla owners on the Dutch-Belgium Tesla Forum, the degradation of the energy capacity of Tesla battery packs after over 160,000 miles is less than 10%.
The latest data related to the degradation of the energy capacity on Tesla’s battery packs underscores the most recent update which Tesla owners on the Dutch-Belgium Tesla Forum have made in a public data file.
The Tesla battery degradation data is gathered by the forum from more than 350 Tesla electric vehicles (EVs) from all over the world, and is updated from time to time. The forum has also found that the battery degradation data does not appear to be affected by factors such as frequency of DC fast-charging and daily status of charge.
The latest update about Tesla battery degradation data clearly reveals that Tesla battery packs lose nearly 5% of their energy capacity after Tesla EVs reach the first 50,000-mile mark. Thereafter, the energy capacity of the battery packs levels off, and there is hardly an additional 5% battery degradation.
With battery degradation being one of the major issues affecting the purchase of EVs by consumers, the latest data related to Tesla battery degradation suggests that the average battery pack comes close to nearly 90% of its capacity after it has cycled through more than 300,000 km.
