Q-Yachts delivers its first Q30 all-electric day cruiser yacht in Finland
Finland-based startup has announced the first delivery of its Q30 all-electric day cruiser yacht in its home country. To celebrate its first Q30 delivery, Q-Yachts has released a short video.
The Q30 all-electric day cruiser yacht was unveiled by Q-Yachts a few months back, after developing it “in stealth mode” for the past few years.
Q-Yachts is a startup enabled by Oceanvolt, a company which manufactures electric propulsion systems for sailboats. The startup aims to become ‘the Tesla of the Seas’ by reaching a market position similar to that achieved by Tesla in the electric vehicle (EV) market.
In announcing the first delivery of the Q30 all-electric day cruiser yacht, Q-Yachts has revealed that the first Q30 has been delivered to “two young friends” -- Jare Tiihonen (alias Cheek) and former professional poker player Jens Kyllönen. Both the owners had previously taken a test drive of the yacht.
The Q30 is a 9.3-meter long boat, featuring an Oceanvolt AXC20 electric motor with a 20kW continuous power output. The boat is available in two options --- one with a 30 kWh battery pack; and the other with a 60kWh battery pack.
According to Q-Yachts, the Q30 is an easy-to-operate, “minimal maintenance” boat, with a cruising speed of 9 knots and a max speed of 15 knots. The company also added that the boat can be “transported on a trailer,” and it “fits into a 40’ container (for longer shipment).”
