Tesla: First Model 3 test drives will be available in stores at “the end of this month”
According to an announcement made by Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk at the company’s recent shareholder meeting, the first test drives of the Tesla Model 3 electric vehicle will be made available in stores by “the end of this month.”
The announcement by Musk coincides with Tesla’s noteworthy Model 3 production ramp, because of which the all of the vehicle’s production lines have been demonstrating the manufacturing capability of 500 units per day.
Confirming that the first Model 3 test drives are coming up this month, Musk said at the Tesla shareholder meeting that the automaker plans to roll out the test drives of the vehicle to “almost all stores in North America by the end of next month.”
The announcement by Musk marks a reiteration of his previous statement a few days back that Tesla Motors has efforts underway to make Model 3 test drives available within 4-6 weeks. Musk had also said that the automaker’s focus will be the Model 3 performance version.
However, since Musk has not specified in his recent announcement as to whether Tesla plans to start Model 3 test drives in June-end with the performance version, it is being speculated that the Model 3 units available for test drives may include some performance versions and some Long Range model cars.
