Tesla makes ‘Premium Upgrades Package’ standard on Model S and Model X non-performance versions
Electric vehicle maker Tesla Motors has recently updated the Model S and Model X design studio, to make the ‘Premium Upgrades Package’ a standard feature for non-performance versions of both the electric cars.
As a result of the move, the ‘Premium Upgrades Package’ now becomes standard on 75D and 100D versions of Model S and Model X. With the package already being a standard feature for Model S and Model X performance versions, the latest design studio update has now made the package standard for all Tesla vehicles.
The ‘Premium Upgrades Package’ -- which was a $5,000 option for Model S and Model X non-performance versions till now -- includes several premium features, such as the HEPA air filter with the ‘Bioweapon Defense Mode,’ a premium audio system, as well as sub-zero features like heated steering wheels, and heated seats for all passengers, among others.
Tesla’s move to make the premium features standard on all vehicles has not only lowered the cost of these features for customers, but has also enabled the automaker to streamline its ordering process and production.
However, with the premium features becoming standard on Model S and Model X non-performance versions, the base price of these vehicles has increased by $2,000. Hence, the Model S 75D version now starts at $77,000, while the Model X 75D version starts at $83,000.
