Tesla is starting to build Trans-Canada Supercharger route to enable coast-to-coast travel
In a move which underscores Tesla’s latest effort to expand its Supercharger network for electric vehicles (EVs), the company has started working on the much-awaited Trans-Canada Supercharger route, for enabling coast-to-coast travel by EV owners.
The Trans-Canada Supercharger route being built by Tesla will give Canadian owners of Tesla electric cars the ability to avail the advantage of the company’s own fast-charging network while traveling across the country. Thus far, Tesla’s Supercharger network in Canada largely enables travel only between a few large metropolitan regions.
Over the last two years, the maps released by Tesla for the expansion of its Supercharger network had highlighted the company’s plans to build the Trans-Canada Supercharger route in the coming years.
Now, Tesla is making good on its promise, with several new permits for new Supercharger stations having been obtained by the company in a large under-served section of the Trans-Canada Highway --- a transcontinental federal-provincial highway system which passes through all ten Canadian provinces, from the Pacific Ocean on the west to the Atlantic on the east.
According to a Supercharge.info report, Tesla’s efforts to serve the Trans-Canada Highway region with Supercharger stations is evident from the fact that the company has filed for several new permits along the region in November, including 6 new permits for Supercharger stations in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
