VW eCrafter all-electric van to be officially unveiled at CV Show at NEC this month
At the Commercial Vehicle Show scheduled to be held at the NEC in Birmingham (UK) from April 24-26, Volkswagen (VW) will officially introduce the eCrafter --- the company’s new all-electric van.
The soon-to-be-unveiled VW eCrafter will be first semi-serious electric van to be offered by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. The all-electric van will be of great interest to fleet buyers in the UK, especially in the wake of the high pressure being faced by the fleet owners to switchover their delivery van fleets to all-electric models.
Currently, there are only a few electric vans available on the market for the fleet owners to choose from. Hence, fleet owners are apparently interested in knowing the details about the VW eCrafter, in order to know what the vehicle has to offer.
In coincidence with the official unveiling of the eCrafter at the CV Show at NEC this month, test drives of the forthcoming all-electric van will be offered by VW to select customers at the unveiling event.
With VW having begun the real-world testing of the eCrafter all-electric van in Europe in December 2017, the company is now expected to commence the real-world testing of the vehicle in the UK in May 2018. Towards that end, John Hole, the fleet manager at Gatwick Airport, said that the testing of the VW eCrafter prior to its launch will reveal “how the vehicle performs in everyday conditions and operations.”
